House Moving Blues…

Family July 17th, 2006

OK we’re moving house this week, all the way from Aberdeenshire to Stirling (Bannockburn to be exact).

We’ve been building up to this for quite a while and we finally completed the sale of our house last week.

Extreme house moving

It’s quite a bittersweet experience as this is the house our children grew up in. They’re both now grown up and The Laddie leaves for Perth College soon so it seemed like the best time to get going and make the move South. The Lassie has been in Glasgow for the last year already.

The good part is that we’ll be closer to both of them once we’ve moved.

To begin with we’re going to be renting a flat until we get a chance to have a proper look around the area for something to buy.

So it’s likely I’ll be off-line for a few days while we sort out the move.

We Came, We Saw, We got off our faces!!

Family, Fun! July 10th, 2006

Well, jolly old T was a bit wet and cold but the entertainment was up to the usual high calibre.

We didn’t have a great start, the fucking car broke down half way between Aberdeen and Dundee. It was then that I discovered my AA membership had expired (of course).

Anyway, on to the AA who sent a total saint out 10 minutes after I called. He got us back to Aberdeen where he took us to a garage who could get the car fixed for when we got back. So we ended up having to hire a car - expensive weekend! (Don’t tell The Wife, for God’s sake)

We were only 2 hours behind schedule in the end so fucking great recovery methinks!

Highlights for me? The Who were awesome, certainly showed the young uns what a great rock band is all about. I’m afraid a bout of temporary unconciousness prevented all three of us seeing The Chillis - that and the fucking freezing rain!

The Strokes were fantastic as usual but the real surprise for me was Manu Chao - incredible!

Anyway, me, The Laddie and his Mate managed to get a wee bit minced on the Friday night after we got the tent up and we continued in that mode right up till we fell over on Sunday night!

Much time was spent in the Slam Tent - just staring slack jawed…

…so that’s why they call it Trance!

Didn’t do the Ceilidh Tent this year, every time we went over they seemed to be between bands…oh well, next year!

Teriffic T!

The Lassie and her friend went their own way so we didn’t see much of them but I believe a good time was had by all.

Big shout to Sarah who claims to be a regular reader of AAFP!!

So tickets go on sale tomorrow morning for next year so I’d better be up bright and early to nab a couple (yes, 9:00am is bright and early for me!)

Are you ready to ROCK??

Family, Fun! July 6th, 2006

Ok all you cool cats and jive bunnies it’s come around at last!

Tomorrow I’ll be off to set up the tent at Balado for the fan-fucking-tastic T in the Park.

Me, The Laddie and The Lassie will be heading off for two days of family fun and lager. (The Wife is staying at home with the dug!)

The bets are on as to who will swally the most cocktails at the B-Bar and we’re all looking forward to a blowout.

Ra Boys!

Can’t wait to see The Who. It’s amazing, I was into The Who, Zeppelin, Deep Purple et al back in 1969 and here we are at the start of the 21st Century going to see The Who - fucking magic!

Me and The Laddie went to see Deep Purple last year. It’s like a weird kind of timewarp!

Anyway, if you recognise me then come and say hello and mines a pint…

Happy Birthday The Lassie!!

Family June 10th, 2006

My beautiful, talented daughter, The Lassie is 20 today and is spending her first birthday away from home (preferring the obvious choice of a pissup in Glasgow with her mates to sitting in the house with us lot - not a difficult choice methinks!)

Sorcha Kate

Anyway, Happy Birthday Sorcha! Have a great night out with Emmy and I’ll see you on Monday to get you moved. (She’s moving into a flat after a year in Uni accommodation)

Wedding Woes…

Family May 9th, 2006

Well, the wedding went fine, beautiful bride, handsome groom, stunning weather, fantastic meal and a few free bevvies! What more can you ask for?

The Wife decided she wanted to go home as we were having our post-prandial coffee…

…What!! But…But…I thought we were getting pissed?? At least I thought I was getting pissed.

Anyway, long story short we were home by 9:30pm, sober and £45 lighter for a fucking taxi. If she’d said she wanted to go early I’d have abstained and driven home.
